Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL) Co Ltd developed an OLED display with a super-high resolution of 1,058ppi and exhibited it at Display Innovation 2014, a trade show that runs from Oct 29 to 31, 2014, in Yokohama City, Japan.

SEL also demonstrated a viewfinder mock-up equipped with the display.

The screen size and pixel count of the OLED display are 2.8 inches and 2,560 x 1,440, respectively. A c-axis aligned oxide semiconductor is used for its backplane. Its gate driver is formed on a substrate, and its source driver is realized by COF (chip on film).

Each of the pixels measures 24 x 24μm. The aperture ratio is 30%. The color display is realized by combining a color filter and white OLEDs having a tandem structure. The OLED element is a top-emission type.
