CEATEC Japan 2007 finally opened Oct. 2, 2007. New technologies of the electronics industry gather in Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Japan.

The exhibition will remain open for five days, or until Oct. 6. This year, all of the 11 halls in Makuhari Messe are used, three more halls compared with the CEATEC in 2006. The number of visitors is expected to be a record high of 200,000.

It is cloudy at 9 a.m. despite the prayers of Nikkei Electronics' reporters. Well, we have to be content because, at least, the rain has stopped. We have a 10 percent chance of rain in the afternoon, but it is recommendable to bring a foldaway umbrella just in case.

The information map. From this year, "Home & Personal Zone," which is one of the "Digital Network Stages" and displays digital consumer electronics like flat-screen TVs, is located in Halls 9 – 11, which were not used last year. It would be a good idea to map out a route and efficiently tour the exhibition.
