NEC Corp., NEC Networks & System Integration Corp. and Toyo Networks & System Integration Co. Ltd. jointly launched a modem product line named the TOYONETz Kosoku Dojiku (High-speed Coaxial) Cable Modem CX Series.

With the use of the modem, a coaxial cable used as the TV reception line can be utilized as a LAN cable. Shipment of the series is scheduled for Oct. 29, 2007. NEC Group will exhibit the product line at CEATEC JAPAN 2007, which is being held from Oct. 2 to 6, 2007, at Makuhari Messe.

The modem product is comprised of a base unit and a cordless handset (CPE). They are connected to coaxial cable terminals in a house or housing complex. The base unit can be connected with up to 64 handsets. If additional base units are provided as repeaters, the network can be expanded to include several hundred of handsets.

The maximum data transmission rate at the physical layer is 200 Mbps. The product employs the OFDM modulation method.
