Toyota Tsusho Corp announced Nov 6, 2017, that it has completed a 12.5MW woody biomass power plant in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, Japan.

The plant is scheduled to start operations in January 2018. It uses only woody biomass as fuel. It is expected to generate about 87,000MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 24,000 households, per year.

Unused materials such as thinnings and forest scraps produced in the prefecture will be chipped. And they will be combined with imported palm shells for combustion.
