Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corp (Kawasaki City) announced that it has received an order for 6MW of solar panels from Eight Solar Co Ltd, a Thailand-based major firm that installs and sells solar power generation facilities.

Through Eight Solar, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions will install solar panels on the roofs of six stores of the "Home Pro" major do-it-yourself chain based in Thailand.

Home Pro has been actively introducing solar power generation systems in the aim of saving energy at its stores. This time, it will introduce 320W polycrystalline silicon panels and start to operate them in January 2018.

According to Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions, it received the order because the quality and long-term reliability of its products were highly evaluated. This is the first time that the company has received an order for more than 1MW of solar panels from Thailand.

The government of Thailand has been promoting the "Development Plan for Renewable and Alternative Energy," which is aimed at increasing the ratio of renewable energy to all the energy consumed in the country to 25% by 2021. Therefore, the demand for solar power generation facilities is growing in the country.
