Nikkei Technology Online Teardown Squad started to tear down an iPhone X at Touch Panel Laboratories Co Ltd, where we also broke down an iPhone 8 Plus.
As in the case of the iPhone 8 Plus, we started the teardown by removing two screws near the charging port.
To open the case, we separated the front panel from the main unit by using suction disks, which is the method that we employed for the previous iPhones.
There were two rechargeable batteries inside.
Battery capacity unveiled
The opened iPhone X. The two rechargeable batteries formed an L shape. A flexible PCB (printed circuit board) stretched from the display unit to the cover that seemed to function as a shield of the main unit.
The total capacity of the iPhone X's two rechargeable batteries is 2,716mAh, which is larger than that of the iPhone 8 Plus' batteries (2,691mAh). On the other hand, the size of the iPhone X's case is one size smaller than that of the iPhone 8 Plus.
