Hiroshi Kubo, professor at Chiba Institute of Technology, announced a new solar sharing system that integrates a solar power generation system and a hydroponic culture system.

For solar sharing, supporting posts are installed on an existing farmland to set up solar panels, and sunlight is shared by the panels and crops being grown under the panels.

With the new system, crops are grown by using a cultivation system that looks like a plant factory. The hydroponic culture system maximizes the revenue from harvested crops per unit area and reduces workload, Kubo said.
