Sojitz Completes 16.6MW Solar Plant in Fukuoka

Sojitz Corp announced Oct 3, 2016, that a solar power plant with an output of about 16.6MW has been completed and started commercial operation in Iizuka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.

The plant was built on about 258,000m2 of land that was formerly used for collecting debris produced by mining coal. Electricity generated at the plant is sold to Kyushu Electric Power Co Inc at a price of ¥36/kWh (excluding tax).

For the plant, JGC Plant Innovation Co Ltd provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services, and Kyocera Corp supplied solar panels.
