Kyocera Building Japan's Largest Floating Solar Plant
Kyocera Corp disclosed the Japan's largest-scale floating solar power plant being built on the surface of Yamakura Dam in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, Sept 26, 2016.
The construction of the plant started in December 2015, and it is scheduled to begin operation in fiscal 2017. The power producer of the plant is Kyocera TCL Solar LLC, a joint venture between Century Tokyo Leasing Corp (TC-Lease) and Kyocera.
Yamakura Dam is a reservoir for industrial water. About 50,904 solar panels manufactured by Kyocera will be installed on floating mounting systems. The total capacity of solar panels will be about 13.7MW, and the plant will transmit 11.5MW of electricity to a power grid.
