Japanese Solar Market Will Shrink by Half by 2020, Firm Says

Fuji Keizai Co Ltd announced the results of a market research on renewable energy-based power generation systems in fiscal 2020.

According to the results, the scale of the entire renewable energy market will be ¥1.7124 trillion (approx US$16.9 billion), which is half the scale of the market in fiscal 2015, in Japan.

The market is expected to be shrunk because the solar power generation market rapidly expanded by the feed-in tariff (FIT) policy will be dampened by the review of the policy. Fuji Keizai predicted that the scale of the solar power generation market will be ¥1.0583 in fiscal 2020. But it is about half the scale of the ¥2 trillion market in fiscal 2017.
