Goshima Reinetsu Co Ltd developed a refrigerating container that can store fresh food, etc without an external power source by using a solar power generation system and a snow/ice storage room.

Goshima Reinetsu plans to release the container, "Solar Snow Ice Container," in fiscal 2018 for distribution companies, etc.

During daylight hours, the refrigerator of the container is powered by using electricity generated by solar panels installed on the roof of the container. During nighttime hours, cold air is sent from snow/ice stored in the storage room to the chilled room.

The inner volume of the chilled room is about 16m3, and its temperature can be controlled within the range of 0-5°C.
