JAG Energy Co Ltd announced Sept 20, 2017, that it has completed a solar power plant with an output of about 15.4MW in Tsumagoi-mura (village), Gunma Prefecture, Japan.

JAG Energy (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is a company affiliated with Japan Asia Group Ltd. The plant, "Tsumagoi Solar Way," was built on about 220,000m2 of privately-owned idled land in the village. The total capacity of solar panels installed at the plant is about 15.4MW, and the plant transmits 13MW of electricity to a power grid.

The planned amount of electricity generated at the plant is equivalent to the amount consumed by 4,900 households. The FIT tariff set for the plant is ¥40/kWh.

The project was invested in and given a loan by the Public-private Partnership Renewable Energy Fund of the Tokyo metropolitan government.

The construction of the plant started in July 2015, and the plant started operations in August 2017. Toko Electrical Construction Co Ltd provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services. Canadian Solar Japan KK's solar panel was employed for the plant, and 26 units of Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp's (TMEIC) PV inverter (rated output: 500kW each) were installed.
