Increase power generation amount by 30% and reduce LCOE by 10%
Solar panels, mounting systems, PV inverters and remote monitoring systems will be supplied in a set, in respect to solar power generation systems for industrial use (Fig. 4).
The business is positioned as a provider of system solutions, not packages, because the design and offered product may vary depending on the environment of the site where the power generation equipment is installed.
As for solar panels, the company will recommend introduction of products of higher reliability and efficiency, such as double glass panels and double-sided power generation panels.
Double glass panels and double-sided power generation panels contribute to the increase in the profitability of power plants because the 30-year warranty period is long. Increase of power generation amount, higher design efficiency and levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) are attractive for customers, according to the company.
"The power generation efficiency and reliability will be further enhanced if the equipment including PV inverters and mounting systems is offered in an optimum combination, compared with the case where simply high-efficiency panels are used," said Rongfang Yin, vice president of Trina Solar. "Panels, mounting systems and PV inverters are selected without careful consideration regarding compatibility at many solar power plants, so power generation equipment advantages cannot be fully utilized if they are selected carelessly" (Fig. 5).
The systems will initially be offered for use in on-ground plants and floating-type plants, and the target will then be expanded to different types of solar power plants.
In the case of on-ground power plants, the annual power generation amount can be increased by about 30% if double-sided power generation panels and tracking-type mounting systems are introduced, while using optimizers to maximize the amount of power generated by each panel or string (unit input to a combiner box), compared with general on-ground plants. Because LCOE can also be reduced by about 10%, the system will be effective for reduction of power generation cost, which is promoted globally, and will realize feasible power plants, according to the company (Fig. 6).
