75MW Biomass Power Plant to Be Built in Fukushima

Air Water & Energia Power Onahama KK (Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture) announced Jan 11, 2019, that it has started construction of a 75MW biomass power plant in Onahama, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

Air Water & Energia Power Onahama is a company invested in jointly by Air Water Inc and The Chugoku Electric Power Co Inc.

The power plant, "Onahama Biomass Power Plant," will use a circulating fluidized bed boiler (CFB) of JFE Engineering Corp. As fuel, it will use imported palm shells and wood pellets. Electricity generated at the plant will be sold to Tohoku-Electric Power Co Inc at a price of ¥24/kWh.
