Shimizu Begins Construction of 960kW Hydroelectric Power Plant in Toyama

Shimizu Corp announced Jan 9, 2019, that it will start a full-scale small hydroelectric generation business.

As the first project, the company started construction of a 960kW power plant in Toyama Prefecture, aiming to start operation in December 2020.

Shimizu commercialized small hydroelectric generation in December 2016 in Toyama Prefecture, which has an abundance of water resources.

All the electricity generated at the 960kW hydroelectric power plant will be sold to Hokuriku Electric Power Co Inc at a price of ¥29/kWh. The total project cost is about ¥160 billion.
