Mitsubishi Materials to Build 10MW Hydroelectric Power Plant in Akita

Mitsubishi Materials Corp announced Dec 25, 2018, that it will start construction of a hydroelectric power plant in Kitaakita City, Akita Prefecture, Japan, in May 2019.

This will be the first time in 66 years that the company has built a new hydroelectric power plant.

The maximum output of the plant, "Komatagawa New Power Plant," will be 10.326MW (water turbine capacity: 5.339MW x 2). The plant is expected to generate about 48,500MWh of electricity per year.

Mitsubishi Materials will manage the construction. The plant is scheduled to be completed in December 2022. The company did not disclose the FIT tariff set for the plant.
