'Next-generation electricity community' to be tested in Saitama

The verification test of a next-generation energy system that uses a digital grid router (DGR) to transfer electricity will take place in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

The test will be conducted in "Urawamisono E-Forest Connected Site," which is used for a project to sell detached houses in Urawamisono District and located in "Next-generation Automobile/Smart Energy Special Zone." A DGR-based "next-generation electricity community" will be tested.

This was announced by Chuo Jutaku Co Ltd (Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture), which is affiliated with Polus Group and deals with detached houses for installment sale, Feb 7, 2019.

Electricity will be exchanged among (1) solar power generation (PV) systems and storage batteries installed at five houses in the area for sale, (2) PV system set up at "Aeon Mall Urawamisono," which is a nearby shopping mall, and (3) five convenience stores of the Aeon group in Urawamisono District to establish a virtual trading market.

The DGR will enable to send/receive electricity based on orders from an external controller and asynchronously connect to a power grid so that renewable energy-based power sources can be utilized without affecting the grid with output fluctuation.
