SunEdison Japan Corp, which is the predecessor of BCPG Japan, started the development of the mega solar plant in Komagane City. After that, BCPG Public Company Ltd, which develops renewable energy and is affiliated with the Bangchak Petroleum group (a Thailand-based major petroleum company), acquired SunEdison Japan and took over its projects in operation and under development. The project in Komagane City is one of such projects.

Electricity generated at the plant will be sold to Chubu Electric Power at a price of ¥36/kWh (excluding tax). BCPG Japan plans to employ Trina Solar Ltd's solar panel and Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp's (TMEIC) PV inverter.

BCPG Japan owns six solar power plants in operation (total output: about 40MW). They include a plant with an output about 14.38MW in Nagi-cho, Katsuta-gun, Okayama Prefecture (See related article 1), and a plant with an output of about 13MW in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture (See related article 2).

Including the plant in Komagane City, BCPG Japan is building/preparing for three plants (total output: 64MW). And the company is currently developing more than 150MW of solar projects.
