A mega (large-scale) solar power plant for which JGC Corp and JGC Vietnam (subsidiary of JGC) provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services started commercial operation in Vietnam.

This was announced Jan 28, 2019. The output of the plant is about 70MW.

The plant is located in Krong Pa District of Gia Lai Province, Vietnam, and the solar project is called "Krong Pa Mega-Solar Project." The construction of the plant was completed in December 2018.

JGC and JGC Vietnam received an order for the EPC services from Gia Lai Electricity Joint Stock Company (GEC), which is an energy-related company affiliated with Thanh Thanh Cong Group (TTC Group, a Vietnam-based conglomerate). The manufacturers of the solar panel and PV inverter employed for the plant or the monetary amount of the order were not disclosed.

The JGC group also received orders for two solar projects (outputs: about 70MW and about 50MW) that TTC Group leads in Tay Ninh Province, in May and July 2018, respectively. Both of the projects aim to complete construction in the spring of 2019.

The JGC group has carried out many projects in Vietnam and been highly evaluated by customers by thoroughly managing engineering, procurement and construction and completing construction before due date, the group said.

The total solar panel capacity of the Krong Pa Mega-Solar Project and the two following projects is about 190MW, meaning that the JGC group has constructed solar power plants with the largest total capacity in Vietnam.
