Smart Solar Corp (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) had a ceremony to pray for safe construction of a 15.7MW solar power plant in Mombetsu City, Hokkaido, Japan, Dec 7, 2017.

As a measure to stabilize the power grid, a storage battery will be installed. For the plant, 55,104 polycrystalline silicon solar panels manufactured by Hanwha Q Cells Co Ltd were set up along with 13 units of ABB's PV inverter (rated output: 1MW). The plant is expected to generate 16,500MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 5,000 households, per year, eliminating 9,200t of CO2 per year.

As a measure against short-period output fluctuation, Samsung SDI Co Ltd's lithium-ion (Li-ion) storage battery (capacity: 8.3MWh) was introduced.
