30MW Solar Plant Completed in Restricted Residential Area of Fukushima

Tomioka Fukko Energy LLC had a ceremony to celebrate the completion of a solar power plant with an output of about 30MW in Tomioka-machi (town), Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, Dec 1, 2017.

On 40ha of fallow rice field in a restricted residential area, 110,880 solar panels manufactured by Kyocera Corp were installed (total output: 29.938MW). The plant transmits 19.8MW of electricity to a power grid of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc.

The construction period was 18 months. The plant started operations Nov 20, 2017. It is expected to generate about 33,000MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 9,100 households, per year.
