Toyota Motor Corp exhibited a concept car whose hood design can be freely changed at International Tokyo Toy Show 2014, which opens for the public June 14 and 15, 2014, in Tokyo.

There are about 7,000 LEDs installed on the hood of the concept car. A picture drawn by a visitor is captured by a camera and reproduced on the hood with LEDs. Probably because the design of the hood can be easily changed just by placing a picture below the camera and pressing a button, many visitors drew a picture and changed the design.

Though it is possible to display a higher-resolution image by placing LEDs more densely, Toyota did not do that so that pictures roughly drawn by children look adorable, the company said.

In 2012, Toyota exhibited concept cars whose bodies can be replaced to change the colors and shapes of the cars. However, it took time to replace their bodies, and it could not be experienced by many visitors. Therefore, the company used LEDs to change the design of the car this time.
