Solar Promotion announced that it has selected technologies, products and projects of 10 firms for Intersolar Award 2014.

Intersolar Award 2014 is an event for granting awards to innovative exhibits at Intersolar Europe, the largest trade show on solar cell technologies in the world, which took place from June 2 to 6, 2014, in Munich, Germany. Solar Promotion is a Germany-based firm that organizes the trade show.

For Intersolar Award 2014, Solar Promotion selected the technologies, products and projects from exhibits of about 3,500 companies in the fields of "solar power generation," "solar power generation project in Europe" and "energy storage system."

In the field of solar power generation, Solar Promotion selected the cooling system of Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp's (TMEIC) "Solar Ware Samurai" PV inverter designed for mega (large-scale) solar power plants outside Japan.

The award-winning cooling technology is used for a system that uses cooling water with heat pipes without using a pump that delivers a large amount of air. Because of this cooling system, the Solar Ware Samurai can be operated without using a fan when its output is less than 50% of its rated output.

"While most of the past award winners are Europe-based companies, we became the first Japanese or Asian company that has been granted an award," TMEIC said.

Since its release in the fall of 2013, TMEIC has received orders for 60 or more units of the Solar Ware Samurai. And it expects to receive orders for 400 or more units from now especially in North America.
