Eurus Energy Holdings Corp announced that a 30MW mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plant has been completed by Eurus Energy Group in Shiranuka-chou, Hokkaido, and started operations Feb 13, 2014.

For the plant, "Shiranuka Solar Power Plant," Eurus Energy Group installed 134,400 solar cell modules manufactured by Kyocera Corp in the Kushiro Shiranuka Industrial Park. The plant is one of the largest solar power plants operating in Hokkaido. The PV inverter employed for the plant is a product of Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC). And Yonden Engineering Co Inc provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services.

The total amount of electricity generated by the plant is equivalent to the amount consumed by 9,600 normal households. Also, the plant is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by about 11,000t. It is Eurus Energy Group's second mega-solar power plant in Japan. The group is currently building five solar power plants in Japan, and their power generation capacities will total 192.5MW.
