Mitsubishi Electric Gets Order for 18.4MW Solar Plant in Fukushima
Mitsubishi Electric Corp announced Feb 24, 2014, that it has received an order for the installation of 18.4MW of solar power generation facilities for a mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plant in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.
The facilities are for "Onahama Solar Project," which is being promoted by Mitsubishi Corp in the city. The order includes the delivery of the facilities and installation work. Mitsubishi Electric became the original contractor. The solar panel and PV inverter employed for the plant are products of Mitsubishi Electric and Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC), respectively.
Mitsubishi Electric comprehensively provides services such as of design, manufacturing, construction, operation and maintenance of mega-solar plants. The large-scale projects for which the company received orders include "Eurus Rokkasho Solar Park (Takahoko area)" (78.9MW, Rokkasho-mura, Aomori Prefecture), "Tsunahigashi Solar Power Plant" (39.3MW, Awaji City, Hyogo Prefecture) and "Misaki Solar Power Plant (A district)" (8.2MW, Misaki Town, Sennan-gun, Osaka), all of which are now under construction.
In addition, Mitsubishi Electric announced Feb 14, 2014, that it had received an order for the installation of a solar power generation system with an output capacity of about 13.2MW for "Nagasaki Tadewara Mega-solar Plant" in Nagasaki City, Nagasaki Prefecture (See related article).
