Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd started to provide a demonstration system for wireless power transmission based on the company's "direct current resonance" method.

The demonstration system is provided to the member companies of Wireless Power Management Consortium (WPM-c) for free. The announcement was made by WPM-c.

Wireless power transmission based on the direct current resonance method enables to drastically reduce the size of a system (See related article). The power transmitting and receiving modules of the demonstration system measure 10 x 22 x 2.5mm and 8 x 13 x 1.7mm, respectively. It transmits 0.5W of power with a frequency of about 20MHz. The power transmitting module can be powered via USB2.0, etc.

As a product, Murata considers providing a system that can transmit 3, 10 or 30W of power with a frequency of 6.78MHz.
