Project Vivit Co Ltd unveiled what it claims is the world's first color electronic paper (e-paper) that can display video.
The e-paper was exhibited in the booth of Nagase & Co Ltd only in the morning on the final day of FPD International 2012, which runs from Oct 31 to Nov 2, 2012, in Yokohama, Japan. And the e-paper attracted many visitors who were interested in taking a look at it.
"A prototype arrived today," Vivit said. "And we quickly decided to show it."
The company showcased a 6-inch e-paper manufactured by Taiwan-based E Ink Holdings Inc. It displays video by using Seiko Epson Corp's SoC. Vivit has not yet confirmed other specifications of the e-paper and plans to announce them later, it said.
Vivit is a Japan-based company that sets up projects related to signages using e-paper as well as makes and sells them as one of its main businesses. It plans to use the exhibited video-capable color e-paper for business purposes such as commercial facilities and medical practices but not for electronic book readers.
