NTT Docomo Inc equipped five mobile devices including smartphones and tablet computers with an NFC (near field communication) reader/writer function and announced a service to connect them with smart posters and home appliances.
The mobile devices were unveiled Oct 11, 2012, as "winter 2012 models." And the name of the service is "Kazashite Link."
The service cannot deal with any money transaction such as electronic money and coupons. For example, it enables to link a smartphone with speakers. When smartphone speakers are being used to play music, the same music comes from stationary speakers by bringing the smartphone near the stationary speakers. Connection information of Bluetooth is exchanged via NFC. Then, music data is transmitted from a smartphone to stationary speakers via Bluetooth.
The five mobile devices equipped with the NFC reader/writer function are Sharp Corp's "Aquos Phone Zeta SH-02E," Fujitsu Ltd's "Arrows Kiss F-03E," "Arrows Tab F-05E" and "Arrows V F-04E" and Sony Mobile Communications AB's "Xperia AX SO-01E."
