Panasonic Corp will exhibit a 103-inch PDP (plasma display panel) TV that enables to view 3D video with the naked eye at IFA 2012.
This was announced by Shiro Nishiguchi, chief director of AVC Marketing in Panasonic's Global Consumer Marketing Division, who took the podium at a press conference that the company held Aug 29, 2012, prior to the opening of IFA 2012. The new PDP TV is the industry's largest naked-eye 3D PDP TV, he said.
In addition, Panasonic will show a 3D TV-related technology called "Interactive Multiview 3D System." It enables to view 3D video of an object from any direction (360°) by operating a touch panel placed near a PDP TV.
"We consider that the technology is suited for use in art galleries, medical institutions, etc," the company said.
To view 3D video created with the technology, special glasses are required.
As for 2D TVs, Panasonic will emphasize its high-resolution panel technologies by exhibiting a 145-inch 8k4k (7,680 x 4,320-pixel) super-high-vision (SHV) PDP (See related article), 20-inch 4k2k (3,840 x 2,160-pixel) IPS LCD panel, etc.
