Tsujiden Co Ltd developed a film that obscures greasy dirt such as a finger print on mobile phones, digital cameras, notebook PCs and so forth.

The film, which the company calls "self-quenching fingerprint film," was exhibited at FPD International 2008.

Tsujiden added hydrophilic and lipophilic properties to the surface of the film. When grease, such as of a hand, is attached to the film, the grease fits with the film and becomes flat. As a result, a finger print becomes obscure in tens of seconds to a few minutes.

This mechanism does not work only with the lipophilic property.

Tsujiden expects the product to be used as a protective film for devices including mobile phones, digital cameras and notebook PCs. Volume production will begin in the first half of 2009.
