Hong Kong and China-based Solomon Systech Ltd has commercialized standard, bistable driver ICs for electronic paper devices. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the company presented the driver ICs at "FPD International 2007," which was held from October 24 to 26.
Solomon Systech has released the "SSD1615," the "SSD1621" and the "SSD1623" as standard products. The SSD1615 is targeted for dot-matrix cholesteric LCDs, the SSD1621 is aimed at electrophoresis segment displays and the SSD1623 is geared towards direct drive segment ICON displays.
The company has already started sample shipments of the SSD1615 and the SSD1621. The SSD1621 has been employed in a customized form for Motorola Inc's "Motofone" mobile phone embedded with an e-paper device.
