NEC Tokin Corp. will launch large volume standard products of laminated type Li-ion secondary batteries in October 2007, which use lithium manganate (LiMn2O4) as the positive electrode material. Target applications are uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), electric vehicles, robots and electric wheel chairs that need power supply of more than 100 Wh.
To be released this time are a 4.3 Ah rated current model with seven cells connected in series and a 8.6 Ah model, in which two of the seven-cell series units are connected in parallel. The nominal voltage of both models is 25.9 V.
They both will come with characteristics data including discharge patterns, endurance and capacity changes measured in advance. Clients had to test discharge patterns and other properties themselves before, since large volume Li-ion secondary batteries were all custom-made.
NEC Tokin will exhibit these Li-ion secondary batteries at "CEATEC Japan 2007," which opens Oct. 2, 2007.
