Universal ABIT Co., Ltd. has tried extreme overclock. The company demonstrates that a CPU is cooled by liquid nitrogen supplied from the huge tank installed in its booth at "COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2007" being held at Taipei, Taiwan.
The demonstrated CPU is Core 2 Extreme X6800, and it is mounted on the ABIT's motherboard "AB9 QuadGT". Original operation frequency of the CPU is 2.93 GHz.
In the exhibition, the demonstrated CPU is operated at 5052.1 MHz. The original FSB is 1066 MHz, while the FSB of the demonstrated CPU indicated 1684 MHz.
The company boasted that the demonstrated CPU can repeatedly execute the pi calculation program under these conditions without any incidents.
Of course, we cannot apply this cooling technique using liquid nitrogen to our PC at home. But, the visitors seemed to have a great interest in the overclock above 5 GHz. The demonstration space of the company was crowded with visitors.
