Toyota Motor Corp exhibited the "FT-AC" concept compact SUV (sport utility vehicle) at 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, which was open to the public from Dec 1 to 10, 2017, in Los Angeles, Calif, the US.

It is targeted at users who actively enjoy themselves doing outdoor activities and was developed by a team consisting of Japanese and the US engineers.

One of the characteristics of the SUV is that it is equipped with a variety of equipment for outdoor activities while using the traditional design of Toyota's SUVs. For example, its fog lamps are detachable and can be used as flashlights and lamps of mountain bicycles.

Also, the side mirrors are equipped with detachable compact infrared cameras to shoot video while the SUV is running. Toyota is planning to make it possible to automatically upload the video to a cloud server via in-vehicle WiFi.

Furthermore, the FT-AC has a roof rack for mounting tools required for outdoor activities. The rack is equipped with LED lamps whose brightness can be adjusted by using mobile devices, and the lamps can be also used as flashes for the cameras of the side mirrors. And there is a rack for a mountain bicycle on the rear side.
