Itochu et al to Build 49MW Biomass Power Plant in Chiba

Itochu Corp, Osaka Gas Co Ltd and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co Ltd (MES) announced Sept 15, 2017, that it will build a biomass power plant on the premises of MES' Chiba Office in Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

At the plant, palm shells and wood pellets will be used as fuels. The power generation capacity of the plant is 49.9MW. The plant is scheduled to start operations in October 2020.

MES provides construction, operation and maintenance services for the plant. Itochu supplies biomass fuel, and Itochu Logistics Corp is responsible for physical distribution in Japan. Osaka Gas provides its expertise in power plant operation.
