Nakayama Nagoya Kyodo Hatsuden Co Ltd, which is affiliated with Osaka Gas Co Ltd, started commercial operation of a 110MW thermal power plant that combusts both fossil fuel and biomass fuel.

By adding wood pellets, etc to coal fuel (the ratio of the heat quantity of biomass fuel: 30%), the amount of CO2 emissions is reduced by about 200,000t per year. The biomass fuel is imported from overseas. The names of the suppliers of the biomass fuel were not disclosed.

Also, the company will use the expertise and knowhow developed by Nagoya Power Plant, which is located adjacent to the thermal power plant, for efficient operation.
