Ichigo Fires Up 43MW Solar Plant in Gunma

The 43.34MW solar power plant in operation

Ichigo Inc announced Sept 5, 2017, that it has started the trial operation of a solar power plant with an output of about 43.34MW in Showa-mura, Tone-gun, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, in July 2017 and started to sell electricity Sept 2, 2017.

It is the largest-scale solar power plant in operation in the Kanto region of Japan. At the plant, 166,716 solar panels manufactured by Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd were set up on 854,340m2 of land. Hitachi Ltd provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services.

The plant is expected to generate about 55,427MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 15,300 households, per year. The FIT tariff set for the plant is ¥36/kWh.
