Kaneka Improves Efficiency of Crystalline Si PV Cell to 26.63%

Kaneka Corp announced Aug 24, 2017, that it has increased the cell conversion efficiency of its "hetero-junction back-contact crystalline silicon photovoltaic cell" from 26.33% to 26.63% and renewed the world record.

The area of the cell is 180cm2, and the company claims that the size is suited for practical use.

At PVJapan 2017, a trade show on solar power generation technologies, which took place in July 2017, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) exhibited Kaneka's photovoltaic (PV) cell with a cell conversion efficiency of 26.6%. And the new cell seems almost the same as the exhibited cell.
