KEPCO Planning to Set Up 75MW Biomass Power Plant in Yamagata

The Kansai Electric Power Co Inc (KEPCO) is planning to build a biomass power plant with an output of about 75MW by using imported biomass in Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan.

The plant will be built on 12.5ha of land in Sakata Rinkai Industrial Park. The biomass fuel will be palm shells, wood pellets, etc imported from Southeast Asia and North America.

Biomass will be combusted in a circulation fluidized bed boiler, and 240t of vapor will be generated per hour to turn a steam turbine generator with a rated output of 74.95MW.
