JAG Energy Co Ltd announced Aug 3, 2017, that it has completed a solar power plant with an output of about 1.3MW in Shiraoi-cho, Shiraoi-gun, Hokkaido, Japan.
JAG Energy (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), which is affiliated with Japan Asia Group Ltd, built the mega (large-scale) solar power plant, "Shiraoi Solar Way," on about 24,000m2 of privately-owned land. The amount of electricity expected to be generated at the plant is equivalent to the amount of power consumed by 420 households. All the electricity generated is sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Co Inc (HEPCO).
JAG Energy provided engineering and construction services and is responsible for O&M (operation and maintenance) after the completion of the plant. Yingli Green Energy Japan Corporation Ltd supplied polycrystalline silicon solar panels (72 cells per panel), and Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC) provided PV inverters.
As a measure against snow, the solar panels were set up at an angle of 30° so that snow can easily slip off the panels.
"We will create a local community and a town together with local residents by utilizing the mega solar facilities in addition to the development of a solar power plant that fits in with the characteristics of the community," Japan Asia Group said.
