Honda Motor Co Ltd exhibited a prototype of the new "RDX" crossover SUV (sport-utility vehicle) of the Acura brand at NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) 2018, which was open to the public from Jan 20 to 28, 2018.

Honda will release the SUV in mid-2018 in the US. The new RDX, which is the third-generation RDX, features a driving performance improved by renovating the power train. Specifically, it comes with a 2.0L in-line four-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine and a newly-developed 10-speed AT (automatic transmission).

"We increased the maximum torque in the low engine speed range by about 40%, compared with the current model," the company said.

The current model combines a 3.5L V-6 naturally-aspirated engine with a six-speed AT.

Also, the new RDX is the first vehicle for which "Acura Precision Concept" and "Acura Precision Cockpit" (new design concepts of the Acura brand) have been fully employed.
