Renewable Japan Co Ltd, Tokyu Land Corp and Japan Asia Investment Co Ltd (JAIC) started a large-scale solar-sharing project for solar power generation and cultivation of wheat and barley in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, Dec 13, 2017.

In the project, they will install two solar power plants with a total output of about 5.3MW. Solar panels will be installed on mounting systems higher than 3.5m, and wheat and barley will be grown under the panels.

The plants are expected to generate about 6,075MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 1,268 households, per year. The solar panels are polycrystalline silicon panels manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Corp.
